FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We have a few larger spaces for rent at Railroad Crossings but the other properties, Railroad Square & Railroad Village are full right now. We do have vacancies periodically, usually around 1 or 2 per month, so to get on the waiting list for one of those, we’d need you to fill out the rental questionnaire at www.ArtDistrict.com/rent so we know what you're looking for and we can reach out if anything comes available that meets your needs.

If you’re an artist and just looking to show your work and you don’t necessarily need your own space, another option may be to contact one of the Co-Op galleries in Railroad Square to see if they are accepting new members (where you can pay for a wall or a section in another's gallery). As of Winter 2024, Co-Op galleries include: Renditions Gallery, Able Artist Gallery, and Feeling Art Collective. The Other Side Vintage is more a vintage store, although some artists also have defined sections there as well. These are all privately run galleries which we do not control, so you’d have to work out those details with them directly.

  • Sorry, No. Due to an overwhelming demand for rental space in The Art District and both a limited amount of vacancies and time available, we do not give out information on spaces before we have qualified a tenant. To get more information about available spaces you must first go to the website www.ArtDistrict.com/rent and fill out our Rental Questionnaire. It doesn’t take more than 5 minutes to fill out. If we have any spaces available that might meet your needs then we will contact you. If you do not hear back from us, it means we do not currently have anything that meets your needs. If something does become available we may contact you months later to ask if you’re still interested. So that we know you ARE still interested, we encourage you to re-fill out the questionnaire every 6 months or as your spatial or budgetary needs change.

  • Sorry, but we do not allow food trucks or vending at Railroad Square as it is competitive with the tenants of our buildings. We know we have a lot of vacant areas, so we understand the appeal of having a “downtown market” like vending, but we do not allow this on the exterior of the property.

Railroad Crossings will have a “food truck court” in the future, but we are not currently prepared for that. When we have more rental information available

For that it will be on our website www.RailroadCrossings.com

For vending, some of our tenants do consignment for external vendors, so perhaps you can contact a few of them (like Otherside Vintage, Rare Birds, and others) that allow you space to sell your belongings in their stores.

There are also some co-op galleries that sometimes have openings where multiple artists share gallery wall space. We cannot give you any more information about this though or any further list of tenants that entertain this.

  • Sorry, No. As of 2024, insurance and liability issues prevent us from allowing outside organizations to host events on the property. There are a few tenants with spaces large enough to be considered event venues. These tenants regularly have events and programming within the confines of their leased and insured space, which is allowed. If you are interested in hosting an event or having programming within these parameters, we suggest you contact these potential venues:

    Railroad Square Craft House

    621 Gallery

    Mickee Faust Theater

    Obsessions Gallery

    Jan’s Gallery

    Capital City Video

  • Sorry, but we do not give out that information. We recommend that you visit our website at www.artdistrict.com and refer to the online directory. Additionally, most of our tenants have social media accounts which provide that information.

FIRST FRIDAY QUESTIONS

  • It is held on the first Friday of each month and is a year-round event.

The official event hours are 6:00pm to 9:00pm but the public is free to come before it starts or stay later.

  • No, the event is free of charge.

  • The roads are closed between 6:00pm and 9:00pm to vehicular traffic. Attendees are free to walk in at any time.

  • There is parking available on the property before 6:00pm. There are also plenty of parking spaces along the bordering FAMU Way, within easy walking distance. Those with a handicap placard are always permitted to park on the property itself at any time.

  • Sorry, no. We do not allow outside vending as it is competitive with the tenants of our buildings who often rely on First Friday sales to pay their rent.

  • First Friday is almost never canceled. In its 20+ year history, the event has only been canceled twice; once due to Hurricane Irma and the second time for 14 months due to the COVID pandemic. You can pretty much always count on First Friday occurring.
